Operational Management Disenchantment
Current Operational Management group is micromanaging and wanting to handle every aspect of the business via conference calls. The only report that matters is On-Time Performance and due to shortage in equipment, staff and drivers this is difficult to provide result for the traveling customers.
Support from management
Local management groups support each other, upper management does not want to hear needs or go further up to correct issues. Everyone is afraid to say and take action, at least in the southern region.
There is a good team work with senior employees, new hires have a difficult time adjusting to work environment due to lack of dedicated training and low staffing.
Freedom to work independently
Micro-managed, unable to make operational decisions that affect local area.
Communication is done with in top and mid level management, with little information getting to customer service and drive staff. Most communication to staff and drivers is based on discipline and customer complaints.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Respectful, sharing a common experience.
Limited advancement unless you are willing to relocate or live in a corporate city (Dallas)
Overall compensation for your work
Minimal, Negotiate well when starting as raises are a minimal percentage when evaluated.
Office / Work Environment
Old, Outdated, not much improvements.
Need a lot of improvement.
Salaried individuals are expected to be on call 24/7 weekend, nights and holidays making it difficult to have a balanced work/life balance.
Well known name, has a bad stigma of client/riders and staff. Locations are dirty and not updated regularly.
If you do your job functions, very good as it is difficult to get staffing.
Needs simplification and easy of use. Difficult to assist passengers with lift issues when equipment is not standardized, damaged and in need of mechanical improvement.
Somewhat hazardous, heavy equipment, road/driving conditions for drivers, dealing with the general public can be a hazard in itself.
Very challenging due to limited training and dealing with passengers, lack of equipment and shortage of drivers.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diverse Staff and work environment. Able to work and meet people from all walks of life.
Suggestions for improvement
- Allow local management to hire appropriate levels of staffing, over the years staffing has decreased due to budget and to meet upper management bonus structures that first level employees get disillusioned in growing positively with in the organization.
What I like about the company
It is challenging, working with the staff who is resourceful and helping customers. Resolving challenges.
What I dislike about the company
Unfairness to entry level staff and work-life balance.
