Many involved Manager's work with their team's to resolve issues, brainstorm effective ways to increase productivity. Encouraging new ideas.
Inter departmental team work. Departments with similar work cross train to be able to cover staff shortage, vacations and sick call.
Freedom to work independently
Allow us to do the work we are trained to do. Present to assist as needed.
Open communication board for all to post comments and/or concerns, good or bad that are addressed by managers.
Fairly equal balance of all genders are represented throughout the system.

Gundersen Health is a National leader in self sustained, reusable energy. Cafeteria uses recyclable, pressed paper plates, cups and carryout containers. All paper is recycled.
Management encourages staff to take their vacation time. Offer exercise classes, healthy eating recipes. Employee Assistance Program offered at no charge. Flexable work schedules offered where available.
Large public presence. Company paid first year property tax to encourage staff to live within the surrounding community. Collaboration with city to improve area community parks. Serves free lunches for area children during the summer. Delivers unserved food to the soup kitchens, warming centers and Salvation Army living centers.
Patient lift system in every hospital Patient room. Bariatric chairs, wheelchairs and bathrooms available in multiple places throughout the facilities. Automatic and revolving entry doors. Wide doorways to accommodate late wheelchairs or scooters. Patient Services available to assist patient's in and out of their vehicles. Free valet parking services.
Ceiling mounted patient lifts in all hospital rooms as well as many in clinic department rooms. Transfer belts are provided as needed/ requested. Therapy departments offer safe patient transfer classes.
Healthcare is continuously evolving. Be it new procedures, equipment and the ever challenging Electronic Patient Documentation, there is never a lack of challenges.
Inclusive / Diverse
Multiple cultures are represented in both employee and patient population. Cultural sensitivity courses are required learning by all staff. Multiple religions are celebrated and all are encouraged to attend the religious celebrations.
Cultural recipies are celebrated and shared in the cafeteria monthly.
Suggestions for improvement
- Trim the fat off the top. Decrease the number of middle management. Increase availability and number of Nurse Educators.
What I like about the company
Honest and trustworthy. Committed to improving the health and well-being of staff, patients and the community at large.
What I dislike about the company
This is not directed at Gundersen Health, but healthcare as a whole. The need to continue acquiring other health care centers to remain competitive and to keep healthcare affordable.
