- Havas Worldwide, LLC04.Oct 2018
nice place to work, but doesn't necessarily have a shared culture.
internal team workings were genrally positive based on my experience
Freedom to work independently
High marks here -- few issues, however it's hard to do product design remotely what with daily standups and what not.
adequate, not fantastic.
I could see that at the highest of high levels, there are quite a few men in suits, but I think this has changed a fair amount since 2016.
Attitude towards older colleagues
It's difficult to work in advertising if you are over 40 -- it just is, especially if you work in creative. Not sure if this is specific to Havas or industrywide, but it's difficult sometimes to relate.
Not so much
Overall compensation for your work
I felt well-compensated for the job that I was asked to do.
Office / Work Environment
very nice -- I have sat on some very expensive chairs, some of them more comfortable than others, but certainly all of them are very expensive.
I know the management has recently made more strides in this direction.
decent -- would be better for someone without a long commute.
As noted, I am not quite sure what Havas NYC stands for.
High compensation seems to go hand-in-hand with low security. I was laid off, but I was given a decent runway and in-network referral.
as good as any NYC building, I think.
I can't think of any hazards, although the open stairways are easy to trip on. We even had a consultant come in regarding preparedness related to terrorist attacks and what not, but I think that's a downtown NYC thing.
Some of the projects, especially the Watson stuff was very challenging.
Inclusive / Diverse
if you ride the elevator a fair amount, you see pretty much the whole world -- but that's also New York for you.
Suggestions for improvement
- They were a bit too awards-obsessed and not as revenue-obsessed from my limited perspective. At the time, they did not run a very tight ship fiscally, which, I think benefitted me, but at the same time, it feels luxurious and frivolous, but I am not sure they quite had the revenue to back it up.
What I like about the company
I had a lot of creative freedom and I was able to focus on the most important thing, the work itself—which was refreshing to me at the time. The expansive lobby space smells wonderful. The vacation calendar is generous.
What I dislike about the company
It's kind of shallow, even for an advertising agency. If there is a soul to Havas, it was not to be found in New York at the time. It was a collection of great people, with a fair amount of mutual respect, but it never felt like there was much of a Havas "way."
