Suggestions for improvement
- Offer mentorship with another employee in the same unit for new employees. I am a new grad nurse and it's my first time working in a hospital. Planning care and prioritizing tasks to care for 7 patients on a medical surgical trauma floor is overwhelming. Patient care would be better if nurse to patient ratios were only 1:4 versus 1:7.
What I like about the company
Great place to work as a nurse! You are welcomed and made to feel part of a team from day one. Everyone is very nice and helpful. There are a lot of training events offered through their computer based online training and on-site at no charge. They foster teamwork, empower you , and provide many employee recognition programs. The first day on unit my manger asked me to fill out a sheet about myself. What my favorite color was, my favorite place to vacation, favorite song, type of candy, how I like to be recognized and a personal quote. I have only been with HCA for about 3 months but I feel appreciated and like I'm a valued member of a family.
What I dislike about the company
I wish that they offered more opportunities for preventative healthcare in the local community.
