Training is very poor, what you learn in training is not what you need on the floor. Team members, Leads and Supervisors aren't very welcoming. Turn over for management is high so the person who hired you will not be the person you are working for. It's very big on the buddy system. If you are not "liked" they will make your life miserable.
Support from management
You will have a manager that does not point you for anything and then the next one comes in and they go into your past and point for everything. Almost the whole team was written up and on Corrective Actions (when your on 10 - 12 points) and 12 points and above is termination. No communication or understanding. There is not decision making locally, it's all done in San Diego CA and Texas is not considered.
My last team wasn't so bad because being there 5 years I'd learned some of the "tricks". But I use to dive to work and cry and have to get myself together while sitting in the parking lot before going in. No one helps anyone else unless it's their buddy. If you don't know someone or fit in right away you are on your own.
Freedom to work independently
Management does not listen to their teams. There is no positive feed back. The company is micromanaged from San Diego CA, Texas is treated like a "step child".
Upper management is mostly male San Diego Ca, Lower management is mostly female. It seems to work better this way to micromanage.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They hire a lot of older people.
I stayed in the same department for 5 years. I was in a financial situation that i have to keep this job until my situation changed.
Overall compensation for your work
No, One manger gave me a $.01 raise repeatedly. She didn't like me and we didn't get a long. When the next manager came in she was looking at pay, I was called into a meeting and they said by law they had to adjust my pay. This happened three times to get me to a decent pay rate.
Office / Work Environment
No the same chairs and desks are there from when they opened the building. My whole left side is numb (arm and leg) due to poor equipment. I went to talk to the ergonomics depart, and it was the sight manager. She refused to set up my desk properly because I had hurt my knee the previous weekend. And she did not want that to be the reason I was having the numbness. I would have to go to a doctor and get a release. It got so bad i could not sit for the long periods they have us on the phones. So they stacked my keyboard on old catalogs 6 high and got 3 trays to rise my monitors so i could stand up and still take calls. Someone called OSHA, and the next day i was called into a meet. I was badgered about it being me that called and why wasn't i happy with what they did for me. It took them a long time to find all those catalogs and trays.
They have the proper trash cans in the break rooms.
No consideration for family life. You have to get on FMLA to take care of yourself or family and if you didn't qualify for FMLA you took your points and then waited to be "let go". The inside joke is the brown box club. Because they call you into a meeting and while your in there they are packing up your desk into a brown box.
Never felt stable with points being given for anything and everything and vindictive management.
They have the handicap spots, but with all the older people there they already have the handicap stickers.
I was very proud of the work I put out. I did not have the call center background and I learned on my own.
Inclusive / Diverse
Suggestions for improvement
