Difficult to find the words to describe just how bad this company truly is. They give you a fancy title like 'account manager'. You're really just a glorified floor tech that is forced to wear a tie every day. Yes, you are wearing a tie while buffing or stripping and waxing floors. They will send you all over the state for what they call 'night projects'. This 'project' is stripping and waxing floors in a nursing home, usually a hallway. You get NO mileage reimbursement. On a regular basis I would have to drive to Louisville (80 miles one way) and begin a night project around 8pm. These projects would take anywhere from 8-12 hours, then be forced to drive back to Lexington. Many times I would get home around 6am the following day, and the company still expected me to be at my building by 9am for morning meeting. I know of two other 'managers' who got in car wrecks while driving home from a night project due to the fact they fell asleep at the wheel. Again, no gas reimbursement and of course no overtime. That was their scam, by calling us account managers and paying us salary, they could get all the manual labor they could without having to pay overtime! In 4 years, I would estimate that I did roughly 80-100 night projects. There was not one of those projects that consisted of anything but 'managers'. Never a floor tech or a front line staff member, because they would have to pay them overtime!
This doesn't begin to even scratch the surface of how bad this company was to work for. My only advice would be to run as far away from them as quickly as possible. I could go on and on about how unethical they are!
I like about the employer
No positives about HSG. Working with the elderly was enjoyable though.
