There are times when favoritism are a factor and rarely are employees commended for doing a good job.
Support from management
Most of the middle and lower level supervisors have no experience or training. They lack the skills to properly supervise.
There is teamwork at times.
Meetings are few and far between . they rely on bulletin boards to communicate to the employees, even policy changes.
Favoritism does exist for family members and friends of some managers.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Long serving employees are not treated as if the company wishes to retain them.
Most jobs are for manual labor and require no skill set. There are no programs to further train the employees.
Overall compensation for your work
Most jobs are at or slightly above minimum wage and are manual labor jobs. The company does offer medical, dental and vision insurance, but it is costly and not the best. They also offer 401K, but it is very restrictive and it does not allow a withdraw from your account without a lot of paperwork. You are not allowed to borrow from it. There are large penalties if you are allowed to get your money.
Office / Work Environment
Most of the machinery is out of date, which requires more manual labor. This did improve with their new facility, but most of the machinery is the same. They are just beginning to have safety assessments of the conditions, but is often slow because the management lacks the proper training.
Vacation days can and are often denied because of various reasons, but if you do not take all of your vacation days in a given year they are taken from you without paying you for them. They will only give the minimum amount of FMLA time per federal law regardless of the event. Often people are not notified about working a 6th day until they arrive for work the day before. Barely meeting the 24 hour notice requirement.
There has been some restructuring. People moved to different shifts, different positions or both. You are expected to make the move if you wish to work there.
I do not know of any disabled employees. Most jobs are very labor intensive.
They are beginning to provide OSHA safety training and have tried to develop safety programs, but without the proper training for the managers their programs are lacking structure and enforcement.
It is challenging to the production workers to keep pace with doing the manual labor required at the speed they require.
Suggestions for improvement
- Compensate employees for the amount of work they do. Train the managers to be professional and knowledgeable.
What I like about the company
Some of the employees are great team players.
What I dislike about the company
Lack of compensation and gratitude for the amount of work you are expected to do.
