Company outlook

In 1988, Kip Hollister decided that there was a better way to connect the dynamic businesses of our region to the great talent she knew was available in Boston. A way to maximize the potential of staffing through the very basis of what she knew to be true – that connecting businesses with the best people for their companies was about building relationships. She launched Hollister Staffing in response to this vision, developing and evolving the business to be one of the leading staffing firms in the region. Today, Hollister’s range of work has grown as the business environment itself has grown – expanding to include vibrant TechnologyAccounting & FinanceAdministrative & HR professional service areas.

The Hollister team is not simply staff. We are partners, volunteers, mentors and leaders, energized and driven to create successful, ever-stronger relationships with non-profit, government and business communities and the people who seek to work with them.

What else should applicants know about us?

Community is the heart of Hollister. It is our compass and it is what fueled Kip's passion for founding the business 28 years ago. Hollister's community is multi-dimensional and wraps employees, job seekers, business partners, non-profits, and the City of Boston and State of MA government organizations into one so that collectively, these individual threads weave something of value.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, which include many activities throughout the year, have increased job satisfaction, improved leadership and communication skills, and partnerships with others who support giving back to the community.

Application advice

Advice to applicants

  • What are the benefits of temping / contracting? Doing contract or temporary work is a great way to get your foot in the door of a company and in essence “test-drive” that company and see if you like it there. It offers great flexibility, if you need that, in hours and it also keeps you active in your field of interest.

  • Does it cost me anything to have you help me find a job? There is no cost to you to have us help you find a job. Really. And, we will never ask you to send us money.

  • Is my job search confidential? We will never send your resume to a prospective employer, or check your references unless we are authorized to do so by you.

  • What is the best way for me to work with Hollister and hear about open positions? Apply to a job on our site, send us your resume or call. If you look like a good fit a recruiter will schedule a phone and/or in-person interview here are our 75 State Street office.  After that, you’ll receive emails and phone calls about positions that best fit your background.

  • Do you speak with everybody who applies for a job?  We are not able to speak with everyone who applies to jobs. There are a number of reasons why that may happen. Sometimes a client may change the job’s specs or cancel it altogether. Or, your background may not have matched the position as well as other applicants we're considering. Whatever the reason, don’t get discouraged. We receive new job requests every day so keep responding to the positions that match your background and experience.

  •  Will you alert me when new jobs come in? We will alert you of any new jobs when there is a good match of skill sets and experience to the needs of the position. You can also follow us on Twitter to keep up to date with new opportunities.

Preferred application method

What makes Hollister Staffing different from other agencies?

Hollister Staffing is relationship based. Not transactional like most others. That means that we put extra effort and time into meeting and understanding each client’s and candidate’s needs. As a result, our matches are more thoughtful, and happen faster.

What are the benefits of using an agency like Hollister Staffing?

We are able to introduce you to roles/jobs that you may not find on your own. There are many jobs that never get advertised that we have an inside line on. Quite frequently this occurs for any contract or contract to hire positions.

Are all searches confidential?

Hollister Staffing holds all client search information confidential. For candidates, we will never send a resume to a client or check references unless authorized to do so by you.

Does it cost job seekers anything to have Hollister help them find a job?

There are no costs for job seekers. We will never, and we mean NEVER, ask you to send us money and wire funds. We are here to help you.

What are the benefits of doing contact work?

Not all contract positions convert to full time but a high percentage do. Contract work allows you the opportunity to do a test run of the company, meet the people you would be working with, and get to know the company and its culture, for real. Additionally, contract work allows one to continue to be engaged in their profession, stay current while also offering flexibility in scheduling.

How well do you know the companies that you place people in?

We make it our job to know all of our clients, and pride ourselves on the relationships we have built over the last 28 years. For many, we are often the first and only call when there is a talent need.

How long does it take to find the right fit?

Every job is different, but we have hundreds of new starts every week. Some positions are filled within an hour while others may take more time to create the right match. We never rush to fill a job until we know it is a good fit.

How do I make sure I am talking to a Hollister employee?

Here at Hollister Staffing we use emails that end with and Any other emails might not be from us. If you are not sure, and have questions, contact us at 617-654-0200.
