Suggestions for improvement
- There should never be an instance where a store is suffering an entire month and accruing personal medical expenses because of a gas leak at their place of employment. Each store needs to be more up to code for safety. Safe work environments do not exist as long as employees are working in environments lifting heavy product on faulty ladders. Injury and being out of work and not able to come back to work because of lifting restrictions is something I have seen multiple times. Hollywood Feed believes all employees must be able to all do the same heavy lifting in unloading their delivery trucks. Any employee that is out on medical leave also can't come back if they aren't at 100%. With their staffing procedures, jobs aren't secure. This creates an unbelievably high turnover. The employees need to be taken care of from the beginning to ensure these instances are less likely to happen.
What I like about the company
During the course of working for Hollywood Feed, I came on as a full time caretaker. I worked hard and sacrificed my personal life. The company has had my entire life for 14 months and have yet to give a single merit raise. The company doesn't require anyone to work on call, however you will always be asked to come in on your days off. With our original store manager you were only guaranteed 1 day off a week. I was asked to come into work on the day of my wedding rehearsal. I was also not allowed to take any extended unpaid days off to get married. This company doesn't care about their employees and doesn't pay them enough. They require all management to work 45 hours a week at a minimum. If you have an obligations, children, or a life don't waste your time on this company. The owner of Hollywood Feed is investing the company's money in opening new stores, not using it to create a better foundation for the staff and stores that already exist.
