A majority of the time everyone gets along with each other
Freedom to work independently
You pretty much work on your own. Management expects you to be able to work alone after a week of training
There is no communication what so ever. The first week of training they explain what and how you should do things and then they expect you to be able to remember everything your taught. Most of the time they tell you how they want the job done incorrectly and your confused on how it should be done the right way when the person teaching you doesn't really care if you don't get it since they don't like there job.
There is only 1 lady that works in the warehouse.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The company hires mainly from temp agencies and when they do decide to hire them on with the company after being a temp for over a year, are always young guys.
None what so ever
Overall compensation for your work
They stopped matching 401k about 3 years ago. We use to get a 500 dollar bonus every year and then they dropped it to 250 dollars and now we don't get any. They will go 3 years with out giving out raises and if your lucky that you do get a raise for that year its usually 15 cents
Office / Work Environment
The company doesn't have proper lighting its pretty dark in the warehouse. If you injure yourself there is no first aid kits in the warehouse and if you happen to find one its missing everything in it.
If you work for Holman you can forget about having a life outside of work. Overtime is mandatory. You never know what time your getting off and you will be working 12 to 18 hour shifts during the week and if the work isn't finished on Friday they make you come in on Saturday with out notice and you best believe its mandatory.
I am not proud that I work for Holman. I usually keep my mouth shut and do my job and ignore all the negativity and the managers since its a very unhappy environment while you are out in the warehouse working
Its really hard to get fired even if you are a terrible worker since most of the temps that they hire from agencies usually quit before they even have a chance on getting hired on with the company that all the employees that work for Holman would have to seriously injure someone before they got fired. Its so hard to get fired that you can ship the wrong order to the wrong city or state as many times as you want, not to mention you can be late or call out sick when ever you like
There are no disabled workers at Holman
They only provide training on safety when someone gets injured or if osha is notified about unsafe equipment or environment before they provide any training in other words after someone gets injured on the job they try and keep it a secret and have a meeting about how you can avoid an accident that occured after it happens
The work is very challenging due to the way you are taught by an experienced Holman employee. Since Holman employees hate working for the company they tend to do a sloppy job on teaching you on how to do your job.
Suggestions for improvement
- It would make it a happier place to work for if upper management cared about their employees instead of working them 14 to 16 hours per day
