Employees have been told things such as "be lucky you have a job" or "everyone here thinks they are irreplaceable, just so you know, you are all replaceable. If you don't like your job then leave. We'll find another replacement". Disheartening that you never get a compliment because whatever you do, it is because it "is your job".
Support from management
"Do as I say" mentality. Does not follow normal protocols when dealing with conflicts. Family owned and sibling arguments occur regularly within employee range of hearing. Makes for an uncomfortable working environment.
Staff would help each other best they could when their workload allowed.
Freedom to work independently
Workload not fairly distributed in some areas.
Selective who was cross-trained to leave more and who was held back from learning more. No room for advancement. What you are hired for is pretty much where you will stay. Unless someone leaves the company and they don't find a suitable replacement, that is the rarity that an internal person may advance.
Overall compensation for your work
Wages are not comparable to the averages for the industry. There are no yearly reviews or pay increases. If you are brave enough to ask for a raise be prepared to be told no. They offer matching 401(k) and have health insurance. Weekly paycheck was on time.
Office / Work Environment
Temperature never stable year round. Office employees told to wear layers rather than accommodate with adjusting temp.
With reasonable notice vacation time was allowed. Business hours were standard.
The employees complain regularly that they are not being heard by management but it falls on deaf ears.
No job is secure
No elevators. However, office and shop are accessible through first level.
They receive OSHA training.
Suggestions for improvement
- Sensitivity and management training. Invest in employees with yearly reviews and compensation.
What I like about the company
Location and ease of accessibility from highway.
What I dislike about the company
