Support from management
Well that's just laughable. The "principal" is a former aspiring law associate. If you need a way to circumvent or find a loophole in policy & mandates, I guess you can get support. If you're looking to grow your instructional practice, look elsewhere.
Teachers do rally behind and support each other in the absence of administrative support.
Freedom to work independently
Stay on admin good side and placate to their ego, and you'll be given lots of autonomy.
Overall compensation for your work
I am currently making 6K more for the same job at another charter school. I'd advise others to look elsewhere before committing.
The PR at this school is all smoke and mirrors, but they do an amazing job at it!
If you're "loyal" (their term, not mine) to leadership, you have job security even without any degrees, certifications, experience, motivation, or expertise. Just be loyal. Otherwise, all bets are off.
Inclusive / Diverse
Staff is become less diverse but there is lots of diversity among students and parents which is what makes the school so amazing and unique!
Suggestions for improvement
- For a school to develop it's capacity for strong instructional practices (in order to increase SPS score and stay open), it would make sense to have a leader who brings strong instructional leadership to the table.
