Support from management
Don't expect much help unless you're on their good side.
You'll find help in your own department, but never in others. Each department is like an island.
Freedom to work independently
Occasionally you'll get offers to do some solo work off the phones, but this is rare and almost immediately revoked if it looks like you're doing too well and might get promoted for it.
This is something the corporate level of the company says they're fixing at the moment, but it's unlikely to improve.
Attitude towards older colleagues
My coworkers are the only thing I'll miss once I quit.
There are always lots if opportunities for promotion, but only management's favorites ever go anywhere.
Overall compensation for your work
I'm expected to take a ton of abuse every day, and I don't make near enough for it. Not to mention, but management is also incredibly quiet about some people making more than others. A male new hire made a dollar more per hour than a female coworker who had been there for a year already.
Constant mandatory overtime. And if you call in sick, you get a write-up, even with PTO available and a doctor's note.
Most people don't like insurance anyway, but Homesite doesn't do anything to break away from the bad reputation.
Write-ups are random and you seem to get them when you're already struggling. As little as two and you can be fired.
Elevators aren't difficult to access, but the doors can't be opened automatically and the building's landlords are incredibly strict on giving out passes for the main parking lot. Most people park all the way down the street, and they still charge you $25 per month.
We take threats daily and nothing is done about it.
Inclusive / Diverse
One of the only nice things I can say is that Homesite has plenty of diverse.
Suggestions for improvement
- There's not really any way to fix the endemic disfunction and favoritism at Homesite, but starting by restructuring expectations for each department and increasing inter-department communication is a good idea.
What I like about the company
My coworkers and the diversity present. I was pleased to have been hired in despite being young.
What I dislike about the company
Literally everything else.
