Again, there is no sense of community at Homespace among employees. If you aren't in the click and don't go along with inappropriate / unprofessional behaviors, you are no longer welcome.
Support from management
There is not leadership from Administrators. The expectation is for employees to do it after learning on their own and employees are thrown under the bus if there is an issue with HOW things are done. There is no involvement from director or managers but write are used regularly to threaten employees into doing their jobs.
There are some employees who work as positive tam members but most people are fearful of losing their jobs (because it happens so often) and they operate in the CYA mode.
Freedom to work independently
You have no choice but t act autonomously, as there is little to no involvement from managers. However, you will be thrown under the bus when things go wrong.
Communication is controlled and is manipulated. Protct yourself and get everything in writing. Read through what you are asked to sign and ask to review your employee file regularly!
The boss says so is the mindset. There is not an equal, team approach.
Office / Work Environment
Negative - the organization does not build a sense of community at all. Do your job or else and positive reinforcement is not used to encourage good work habits. Those who show responsibility and consistency are dumped with more responsibilities that others have just chosen to NOT do.
As wonderful as this program COULD be, it ends up fostering helplessness and dependency. Girls come and go, but the beds stay full!
There is potential for the balance but again, if things go wrong, administration does not back you up.
The public image is negative and little to nothing is done to address that.
Anyone could be fired any day for any random reason.
No accountability. Staff is blamed and fired or residents are blamed and kicked out.
Safety is a priority sometimes.
Extremely challenging behaviors from kids who have not had consistent, positive people in their lives. Never enough training is offered about what to do with these kids day to day to help them make better choices and become better parents.
Inclusive / Diverse
Little to no recuitment efforts for an inclusive / diverse staff to be created.
Suggestions for improvement
- The Board should be aware of the actions of every employee - director through maintenance. The Board should be aware of spending and so should the residents and employees.
What I like about the company
This program could be such a positive change for so many of the residents!
What I dislike about the company
The residents are often passed along and not given the acceptance necessary to truly grow and succeed. There is no sense of safety and security in employment. There are not expectations of the Board that are upheld by ALL employees, only some. The Board does not get the full report of what is truly happening day to day.
