Amazing culture, very fun place to be. Coworkers were great.
Support from management
Depends on the manager
Everything you do will have at least 3-4 people involved, sometimes more.
Freedom to work independently
You work a lot by yourself but we’re often checked by your managers or your team if you needed. Sometimes were micromanaged down to how you keep a to-do list.
The writers can be unreliable but otherwise great
There were more women in the office than men, many of whom were managers or higher.
Attitude towards older colleagues
It’s very obvious that the older, more senior colleagues were making a completely different salary — the younger employees were making ends meet and the older employees were more than comfortable even in the expensive NoVa area.
This job will teach you leaps and bounds about professionalism and various other skills, but you won’t be compensated for it until you leave the company for another position.
Overall compensation for your work
The production role manages several other teams for one project — internally, the writers, account managers, data team, list brokers and the client accountants. Externally you would work with anywhere from one to four vendors all while trying to edit, proof and create the file for production. This high level of performance was completely undercompensated. Often you would order up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in materials in a day and were completely responsible for it, but your pay did not reflect the level of performance.
Office / Work Environment
There was a lot of work going on, but you didn’t feel the stress in the office. People were generally calm and happy.
I don’t think they did anything for or against the environment
They overload their employees, many nights in the non-senior positions were spend after hours catching up to manage the workload
They’re a republican direct mail company; within the industry they’re very well respected. Outside, almost no one has heard of them.
They would rather work with you than fire you most of the time. Other departments were a little more ruthless.
I have no idea.
Never felt unsafe.
Inclusive / Diverse
This is not a diverse office at all. They are staunchly conservative.
Suggestions for improvement
- Higher compensation for a team that is over performing and under paid.
What I like about the company
What I dislike about the company
There was a clear cut between higher ups who were making plenty of money and the entry level, or just past entry level, positions. But this can be expected.
