Teamwork is virtually non existent. Some managers try but for the most part is outright chaos and everyone for him/herself.
Attitude towards older colleagues
College grad with no work experience are favored. If you are older no matter how many degrees, certifications or years experience you will be ignored and younger ee's will be offered promotions, etc.
Overall compensation for your work
Hubbell does pay very well depending on the department.
Office / Work Environment
Way too much backstabbing and brown nosing. The only way to move anywhere in Hubbell is to attach yourself to a manager / director. Hard work and skills are largely ignored.
Hubbell has a tendency to hire hire hire when the economy is good and them have reduction in force when the economy is bad. Unfortunately the hourly ee's and non exempts take the brunt of this. Hubbell is also very big on outsourcing - IT, credit and AP are already gone.
Hubbell is very good at accommodating disabilities including the facilities and fmla, time for dr appts, etc.
Inclusive / Diverse
Ideas from non managers / directors are never considered. If you don't have the word Manager in your title you are considers a peon. This is especially true of Lighting (HR).
Suggestions for improvement
- Realize that you have good people with experience and degrees and certifications who have a great deal to contribute if you will give them a chance.
What I like about the company
Pay is great depending on the department. The facility in Greenville SC has a café, coffee bar in lobby and gym.
What I dislike about the company
Management does not listen to people who actually "do the work." Mgt assumes they know what is the best way to do a job without really understanding the day to day operations.
