The lack of professional growth and awareness prevents this among mid-level management and within various departments. Upper level, off site management/administration lack true leadership qualities that empower and drive organizational excellence in a healthy manner.
There is absolutely no work-life balance. There is tremendous pressure regarding working hours. Hours do not fall on a normal scale overall , and families are not taken into consideration. The lack of a healthy work-life balance coupled with upper level toxic (lack of ) leadership is what propels this organization to the bottom of the barrel.
Your job is in continual jeopardy based on performance of non-professional staff, working less than 60hrs/wk, trying to bring awareness to a workload that is humanely impossible to complete effectively with good outcome. I believe this is a dynamic embedded in the for profit long term care industry
It exists for the client population. I have not seen it for the employees. However in fairness it was not required by any staff member.
Never experienced training to promote work place safety
Suggestions for improvement
- High level leadership training. Professional development for staff. Tools and adequate resources readily available for staff to do their job.
