Was promised greater responsibility. Was relegated to the pit where my real ability was not used by either me or the company. Not given any reason.
Support from management
Never met manager. He never introduced himself. Operations manager is self centered and detached from staff.
Staff tend to assist each other and pick up slack.
Freedom to work independently
None. You do what you're told, when you're told, how you're told. This is the Huntington way.
None. Office has mandatory monthly meetings after hours. Agenda could have been put on a memo. Instead office managers had staff play games like bingo (I do not make this up!). I lost a lucrative coaching job due to schedule conflict.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The operations manager is a 26-yr-old who seemed to feel a need to put me (59) in my place. I could have done job and much better yet was happy to work there. She treated me like a complete neophyte.
Really none. They need drones for the trenches. I qualified for higher-level work and they never used me for that. I can and will do anything. Just would like to treated as valuable.
Overall compensation for your work
Really bad. They require only certified, experienced teachers and pay 11.00/hr.
Working hours are all in evenings and weekends. Mandatory after-hours meetings cost me another job.
No. Most in the trenches consider it at best a part-time job and don't expect much from it. I think Huntington in general works like a meat factory. It's like anti-teaching.
I wasn't there long enough to find out.
There are steps on the way in. The route to the ramp is rather circuitous. The mall dates to the 60s but is otherwise pleasant with fountains, etc.
I enjoy tutoring and helping kids. The balance if what my skills are worth and what I got paid for them started to make me feel like it wasn't worth it.
