Support from management
Some people in management seemed to dislike certain employees, even without cause. It was a frequent problem I heard about from several employees.
It's annoying when management gets annoyed with you for doing certain things, but then does those things themselves.
Communication was poor. Employees don't tell you when you make a mistake - they tell management, even if it's the first time.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Towards older colleagues - Great! Towards younger colleagues... little less great.
Overall compensation for your work
Got paid extra on busy days and holidays - always nice.
Easy work. They pick favorites on who they train to do more "challenging" tasks.
Suggestions for improvement
- Encourage communication between employees - When I worked there, we could get yelled at for talking to each other. Friendship doesn't mean less work being done - it makes for happier employees. Also, it was frustrating when other employees would go to the management instead of telling you to your face when you had done something wrong or something that bothered them.
What I like about the company
Good starter job for working in the animal industry.
What I dislike about the company
Plays favorites. No client contact. "My way or the highway" attitude. Little opportunity for advancement.
