The culture of iheartmedia is that of any big company. Money. However, if you're on the production side, you don't generate any. So you are expendable.
Support from management
When its management working against you, how could there possibly be any support.
Ha!! If you had an idea, keep it to yourself or it would be stolen and passed off as their own.
Freedom to work independently
Always work independently in radio.
Aweful. Sales and mid management would email everything. They would hardly ever walk the 20ft over to the production office and talk to me about how they want their spot to sound. This would lead to multiple redo's and tension between staff. Plus their tone and attitude was condescending and passive aggressive. They would talk down to you like a child.
Men were treated the same as women.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They tell you how valuable they are but if someone younger came in who could do the job for half... watch your back.
For you to move up in radio, someone has to pass away.
Overall compensation for your work
If you work in radio, you do it because you love it. There is no money at all. Expect to make minimum wage.
Office / Work Environment
Terrible. Kliqs are the norm. Always tension between employees. The physical building was disgusting which made things worse. Equipment that never worked and management would do nothing about.
Ha!! There was still paneling on the walls and the smell of dead animals wafting in the air everyday.
This they were great at!
Iheartmedia has an impeccable image. An image they built on the backs of people working for minimum wage.
No one is safe from being fired in radio.
Not in the building I worked in.
Besides the building being gross, I think it was safe.
Loved the work!
Inclusive / Diverse
They were accepting and open to everyone.
Suggestions for improvement
- Mid management. Stop hiring yes men that kiss butt for their own advantage.
What I like about the company
They were great at work/life balance.
What I dislike about the company
Their corporate bureaucracy and mismanagement. That's why they're 22billion in debt. Invest in your employees not your stupid festivals.
