Hard work is always noticed.
Support from management
Goals and expectations are shared with staff; timelines are usually determined in meetings and employees are considered a team.
Like most places, not everyone shares the load. That's more about staff than the company, but management is quick to notice and take steps to clear up problems.
Freedom to work independently
Good ideas and different approaches are always appreciated by supervisors. Staff are acknowledged for sharing new ways and ideas.
This company, because we work with families and seniors, is very female focused. Age and gender make no difference - only a good days work does!
Attitude towards older colleagues
Serving seniors means older workers are just as valued and younger. Makes it fun!
Advancement is available and the company will train employees for a position they may want. They encourage upward movement.
Overall compensation for your work
Small company so not all the perks are available.
Not sure how this might factor in to this job.
This business is owned by a family and is very family friendly. PTO is easy to take if you give proper notice. Emergencies are treated with respect and everyone works to cover an absence.
Good employees love the company and owners. Bad employees don't. Business has been around for a very long time and has a good reputation. It is deserved.
Dependable people have no need to worry about their job. The family has owned the place since it opened and don't seem to want to quit. Definitly stable.
Meeting regularly address doing the job safely and we train as well.
Opportunities to move up within the company are available and good work and good ideas are appreciated.
Suggestions for improvement
- Try to find better employees to support the rest who are working hard to make a difference with the seniors we serve. It's a wonderful business, just need wonderful, dependable employees to make it easier.
What I like about the company
I am treated with respect and appreciated. They give me chances to learn new jobs and they make me feel like I'm important to the overall business. When new people are hired, I am part of the team that trains them.
What I dislike about the company
What I don't like is more about co-workers than Independence Village. We have a lot of turnover in less skilled positions - people just decide not to show up for work.
