Attitude towards older colleagues
The State periodically "scales back" the workforce. A scale back happened during my tenure and the majority of those who lost their jobs were 50+.
Overall compensation for your work
The State pays significantly less than the corporate enterprises and women are most often paid less than the male counterparts for doing the same type of work.
