The tension can be cut with a knife. Surveillance used to monitor employee activities. Basically no fun allowed and smile only if your supervisor smiles first.
Support from management
Owner is missing in action or unapproachsble. Acting leader is not skilled to lead and should themselves be more closely supervised and scrutinized.
Colleagues work well together for the most part but no one works well with the primary supervisor. Owner does not get involved in any day to day running of the company.
Freedom to work independently
Workload is fairly distributed sometimes. Some are overworked. Ground rules change frequently leading to a no win situation.
We don't know anything about how the company is doing financially. Seems to not be good lately. Operating game rules change all the time.
99% of the work force is female. There are a few favorites. They are the ones who should be watched the most closely. There's little appreciation shown for work well done. The work staff is otherwise safe.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There are no real senior workers hired. Very few are long serving aside from 1 or 2 favorites.
Not sure. Opportunities to advance aren't really available. Few last long enough to advance.
Overall compensation for your work
Some are paid fairly but some are not. Health insurance is very expensive to take advantage of. There's no dental, vision, life, disability or 401k. Bare bones benefits wise.
Office / Work Environment
Clinic is light and airy but staff is squeezed into a small space. Administrative staff is crammed on the ground floor with no windows and one unisex bathroom which is sometimes embarrassing.
They just seem to care about making money and little else. The place is otherwise kept clean and seem to follow regulations for clinics. There's no concern for outside or social matters.
Sometimes have to negotiate time off. They don't like make up time. If you need an hour to go to the doctor, they make you take half a precious vacation day. Seems like certain employees are favored over others. Not overly generous with holidays. Christmas and New Year's are dead business wise, but we are required generally to work until 3 while some managers leave early.
Image does not reflect reality. They try to project a good image but no one talks fondly about the place.
Jobs are not stable. Seems that at least one employee is targeted for removal at all times. The favorites are the ones that need to go. Employees should get the benefit of the doubt but it doesn't happen.
The place treats injured people so it's totally accessible. There are no disabled people working here.
The place seems safe enough. Don't know if it complies with OSHA.
Compliments are rare. Most work in fear of making an unintentional mistake. They seem to look for reasons to get rid of people - some very good. The owner needs to become more of a people person and get involved instead of relying on one bad manager. It's a revolving door, few last very long.
Inclusive / Diverse
There are no goals. Just come to work, do your job and pray that you are not the one with the target on your back. People are afraid to share opinions or ideas because they always get twisted into something negative. Best just to stay under the radar as much as possible.
Suggestions for improvement
- The owner needs to lead his company instead of relying on his attorney to run the show. This person needs major team building, people management training and should probably be watched more closely by the owner than most. There are a few favorites who seem to have more freedom than most but they are tightly tied to the owner or attorney. They need to focus on taking the fear out of working there and give employees the chance to express themselves without fear of it being held against you. Not sure if this place can be repaired without huge changes at the top.
What I like about the company
It's a short term job experience if you are into that sort of thing and provides an education in how not to lead, run a company and treat employees.
What I dislike about the company
Too many good people have lost their jobs or have left on their own before the hammer came down. There is zero sense of job security unless you are able to make yoyr way into the favorites club.
