Intermountain health care is very political and is a difficult place to grow in your career

What I like

Great benefits! I like a lot of the people I work with but the supervisor and managerial staff.

What I dislike

The politics that go into play when trying to advance. A company should not promise you a position, call you the name of that position for months, talk to you about how difficult it will be to replace you when you are officially this position, have you do the work of the position for months and then give the position to someone else

Suggestions for improvement

Listen more to your employees. Don’t place blame on your employees for your failures as a supervisor. Recognize the value of an employee and treat them in a way that makes them want to stay. The culture is negative. They can fire you without reason. People are scared. People feel hurt and cheated

Company Culture

Extremely political

Career Development

Managers keep you where you’re at so they don’t have to work to replace you

Overall compensation for your work

I work twice as hard as anyone and have a degree and get paid less than someone with people with a certificate who only have to work with 1 person at a time

Support from management

My manager is a liar and extremely unprofessional

I really enjoyed my time with IHC. They were not competitive with pay, but being a monopoly they paid as they choose.

What I like

Loved the people. The hospitals were in top condition. The policies were cutting edge and benchmarks across the country.

What I dislike

There was no diversity. The pay structure was not competitive. The Mormon culture was a constant undercurrent that affected those of different religious affiliation

Suggestions for improvement

More competitive pay. Additional work was often required for normal pay. When required to do additional work beyond full time, consider a premium rate to compensate employees for taking them away from their much needed time off.

Company Culture

Very positive environment

Challenging Work

NICU

Seasoned at company. Very nice people. Everyone seems to care about helping community. From drs to housekeeping.

What I like

Learned a lot about medical problems. I have met many people who like to share their stories of challenges and pain. Working so closely with drs is a great experience.positive experience are helping people recover from pain or help yo get resources for help. Some people cannot be saved or helped. And you have to hold head up and not let it bring you down. We are not heroes, we signed up for the opportunity to serve our communities.

What I dislike

Lots of people have terrible work ethic and that's the most difficult aspect of the job, as it would be for any job. I just tell myself. If I were the patient. Would I do this or that, to make the improve patient experience and expectations of a caregiver.

Suggestions for improvement

Do more to take care of employees. Have free on site clinic staffed with NPs to see staff and their families..keyword is free. Need more staff to help psych patients. More recognition for employees from hospital admin.

Company Culture

Culture very unique. Autonomy required for patient care. 200+ in dept. Many different personalities.

Company Image

Lots of time there. Lots of death.

Work-Life Balance

If you have pto, sure. No free offered during covid

Career Development

None for my specialty.

Handicapped Accessibility

Agree

Overall compensation for your work

No. People in other states and companies making more. Hard to assign compensation to my specialty.

Inclusive / Diverse

Opinions not very public. All share same frustrations. Some left angry with admin.

Environmental Friendliness

No recycling. Tons of waste that can be recycled

Workplace Safety

Agree

Teamwork

Team ideals help take care if patients. Everyone has to do their job. Some people lazy. Makes it hard on others.

Attitude towards older colleagues

None

Support from management

Ok

Office / Work Environment

No problem

Challenging Work

Have lots of experience. Sometimes challenging, but easier with needed tools. Trust from Drs also needed

Internal Communication

Always surprises. Miscommunication, wrong information, especially covid at start.

Gender Equality

Lots of women admin, supervisors, leaders.

Freedom to work independently

Things need to get done by those who have the skills

Job Security

Worked there for ten years. Moved up through the company.

What I like

Intermountain healthcare makes me feel as though I am doing a job that is helping everyone in the community. Like I have a hand in helping others lives.

What I dislike

There could always be more communication from management. Although i know they are concerned for all in the company it would still be nice to hear more of it.

Suggestions for improvement

The pay could certainly be better at reflecting the amount of work being done.
