Company Culture

The Corporation based in Texas did not do much for the branches in Michigan

Support from management

Corporation had high goals and expectations without being realistic about the Michigan market.

Teamwork

Some employees were all about themselves because of unrealistic goals

You are allowed to do somethings yourself but most things have to go thru management

Internal Communication

Management never communicated with employees about the status of the branch and what ways to improve numbers.

Gender Equality

There is a female VP.

Attitude towards older colleagues

The are many seniors who work there.

Career Development

Management did not assist with career development. They did not guide employees, who wanted to advance in position, how to accomplish this.

Overall compensation for your work

Starting compensation is good but to get rate increases you have to meet goals and goals are very high. Thus compensation is very rare.

Office / Work Environment

Very stressful enviroment

Environmental Friendliness

We wasted a lot of paper.

Work-Life Balance

Management frowned on missing after work meetings or call nights for family obligations.

Company Image

I wish they were more realistic about the expectations for the Branches in MI location.

Job Security

You do not make your goals, you will not keep your job. The branch does not make the goals, they will shut them down.

Challenging Work

The work was very routine and did not change.

Inclusive / Diverse

There are many different nationalities employed.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The corporation needs to be more involved with branches outside of Texas and really review what the market is like, so that they can have more realistic goals for the branches.

What I like about the company

They have a good benefits package and they do match your 401K.

What I dislike about the company

They do not have realistic expectations and do not assist with branches outside of Texas.

Company Culture

The corporation based out of Texas did not help with branch locations in other states. The branch based in Michigan felt like an Island separate from the mainland.

Support from management

The leaders did not listen to employee feedback and did the same old things over and over again. Goals were not realistic and unreachable.

Teamwork

Colleagues did there best and worked as a team most of the time. Some co-workers were to competitive and took more sales for themselves because of extreme sales goals.

Freedom to work independently

You were able to make your on decisions on somethings but the bigger things had to go thru management.

Internal Communication

We did not have much communication about the status of our branches from management or corporate.

Gender Equality

There is a female Executive VP.

Attitude towards older colleagues

There are older employees.

Career Development

There are no set criteria for advancement and no assistance to advance in position.

Overall compensation for your work

Compensation is good to start but raises are based on goal achievement and goals are unrealistic.

Office / Work Environment

The branch was hot most of the time. The equipment used broke down most of the time.

Environmental Friendliness

They have confidential shredding service but go through a lot of paper.

Work-Life Balance

You have late nights for mandatory meetings and making calls. They want you to come in on day off for meetings. They also transfer you to work at branches further from home without asking you.

Company Image

The Credit Union is to much like a Big Bank.

Job Security

The branch does not reach goals and increase profits, they will close it down.

Handicapped Accessibility

Yes there are ramps to enter building.

Workplace Safety

Yes emergency training and first aid kit provided.

Challenging Work

The work is very repetitive and you have very slow days with busy work.

Inclusive / Diverse

There were many different nationalities represented in the employees.

Suggestions for improvement

  • They need to focus on all there regions not just the Texas branches. They need to go back to being about helping credit union members. They should not think about profits only.

What I like about the company

The starting compensation was good and you did get to meet the CEO and Executive VP.

What I dislike about the company

They were not a credit union that focused on the members and there well being. They focused to much on profits and sales.

Company Culture

goal focus no respect for the staff if the numbers are not met.

Support from management

No motivation from upper management. Always think write-ups is the solution to solve the problems. This explain the high turnovers.

Teamwork

lack of communication for management in the regions. you have to belong to a click to fit in a certain group.

Internal Communication

only communicate when you are not doing what is expected. the manager was in same building and we may have seen her 2 weeks out of the 5 months she was there. when she came around she locked herself in the office until time for her t o go.

Gender Equality

reviews and write ups are base on personal feelings of upper management. if there were problems with my manager i had not one else to go to because of their clicks and non support if they did like you

Career Development

i can say they promote within if you are liked. when you don't make the cut you get cut

Overall compensation for your work

you will hear that the pay is comparable to other markets but other markets do not come with the stress levels this comes with. if you are not like or do not fit the profile of the manager you do not get a raise this has been seen personally. employees go 2 years without a raise

Office / Work Environment

pressured job stressful

Work-Life Balance

managers do not have a day off in the week if they take a day off it has to be a sick day or vacation day. no flex days but upper management don't have this problem since they don't work weekends. managers can get burnt out and overwhelmed but have to keep going. too many added burdens

Job Security

none everyday is like walking on a tight rope. you never knew when you will walk in to be walked out. a lot of things are based on personal feelings of upper management.

Challenging Work

2 years no bonus that was discuss in the interview process. reviews is always base on the personal feelings of the manager

Suggestions for improvement

  • They problem rest within the upper management staff. This company lost 14 managers in a 2 year span 10 of them were in one region. This is a red flag in itself. There is no motivation to reach the next level from upper management. Some employees are stuck in that one position and the only next level is termination or leaving. Stop using PIPs as a mean of managing the staff. It does not offer the staff a sense of encouragement. Stop using intimidation as a means of communication it don't work on everyone. Communicate with your staff on good and bad terms not just when they are doing something doing wrong. Communicate with your managers don't hide and not hold yourself to the same accountability you expect them to own up too.

What I like about the company

I like working with the staff I had. We were a team and we worked well together.

What I dislike about the company

I did not like the fact that upper management treated the employees that they did not care for. Some managers used intimidation as a mean of communication. It was disrespectful, demeaning, degrading. One spoke to you as you were beneath her. There was a separation of unity for management, it seem to be supported by my manager. You could not feel comfortable going to management with a problem without feeling you would be a target afterwards.
