What I like

Lots of benefits and caring for going green are fantastic things

What I dislike

Outsourcing had caused the loss of lots of great talent and causes those who remain to love in fear of the next step in replacement. Terrible communication between depts and even within many depts.

Suggestions for improvement

Cost of living increases would help a lot. Used to be top tier of pay but not so much anymore.

Company Culture

Used to be much better before we made the best places to work hall of fame and now it's like...who cares?

What I like

I liked the team I worked with, not the management.

What I dislike

The smoke and mirrors they display for customers, they really don’t give a crap.

Suggestions for improvement

Get rid of middle management in Tax, start over. The top has no idea what the lower tier is doing no matter what they say.

They talk out of both sides of their face

Company Image

They lie about this, the almighty dollar is all they care about

What I like

Very innovative and talented people work there. Good CEO, very much hands on and approachable for being the head of a very large organization. Best benefits package ever! Nice gym and cafe on site. You must be a self starter which might not be a bad thing but here's the kicker. You are on your own as far as support goes. Direct management have a sink or swim mentality so don't expect much support.

What I dislike

riction between divisions and functions would create unnecessary obstacles.

Suggestions for improvement

Get rid of the open office and stop relying on agile practices.

From A Family Company to Greedy in 5 Years!!

2.5
Not recommended
Former EmployeeWorked at Intuit Inc. in Mountain View, CA.

What I like

I DID like the fact that employees were not numbers to begin with. Customer issues were more important than how long you were on the phone with them. They truly cared for employees and customers. Benefits were awesome. Nobody compared to them.

What I dislike

Within 5 years I watched this company get so greedy. Things that worked, software that worked was abandoned because it wasn't cost effective for the company. Customers didn't matter at that point. Their response when asked " what about the customer that doesn't want to go online?"
They will either deal with it and convert or they will go to another company. 5 years prior there wasn't anything they wouldn't do for the customers. Now they want to give less and charge more. My first day every employee walked around with their heads high and smiles on their faces. The day I was fired for being sick and prior to that, people were looking at the floor and could not look you in the eye. In 5 years went to a company I was proud to work for to a company that I actually thanked for ridding me of the stress and daily headaches. They need to bring back "the kitchen table" in which this company was founded.

Suggestions for improvement

Get the "family" back into the company. Back to when employees meant something. Don't outsource to substandard contractors who have no vested interest in the company. Middle management and their methods need to be looked at for integrity. One of Intuits top standards. Integrity without compromise. When a new VP of operations comes into the company and within a years time, abandons ship, that should tell you something.

Company Culture

Initially culture was awesome. Very family oriented. Employees meant everything. In 5 years I watched it decline to employees becoming a number and eventually becoming expendable.

Company Image

Image was good only because employees were afraid to tell what was really going on.

Work-Life Balance

Again, initially it was great. Family came first. No questions asked. Then moved to "we are sorry your family member passed, but when can you come to work."

Career Development

If you were into butt kissing, you were in like flint. Otherwise you were overlooked, or chosen to go train your replacement.

Handicapped Accessibility

Normal

Overall compensation for your work

We were the lowest paid in the US. AVERAGE was $25+ per hour to start. They started at $14. After 5 yrs, making $18

Inclusive / Diverse

Oh quite a diverse group of people.

Environmental Friendliness

Always recycling

Workplace Safety

Normal

Teamwork

Teamwork was great between people on the teams and some managers. Others were more concerned with their numbers and falsifying them to become top in the office.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They were expendable too. Moreso than the younger group. Terminate older colleagues so they didn't have to pay retirement.

Support from management

Some managers were great with support. The majority however were more concerned about advancing their own careers than helping employees to improve their own careers.

Office / Work Environment

Was decent except for the moving every 6 months to new building and new desks. Call center environment so very loud. Needed more enclosed cubicles.

Challenging Work

Made it harder than it had to be.

Job Security

Non existent

Internal Communication

Communication was sorely lacking between upper management and everyone else.

Gender Equality

Non existent. Men hired men, or attractive females.

Freedom to work independently

It was fine as long as they hovered over you watching your every move.

Great company some of the management needs to appreciate good employees and stop with the politics.

What I like

What I dislike

Middle management. Some people are not qualified to do the jobs they are doing

Suggestions for improvement

Take care of quality employees appreciate knowledge and tenure

What I like

This was the most challenging and rewarding job I've ever held. Intuit was the first company to come along and push me to better myself at my job. I knew I had a lot to learn, but until Intuit, I was unaware of how much there was to learn.

What I dislike

Lack of communication and continuing education resources during the off season.

Suggestions for improvement

Intuit could benefit by offering employees CE resources as a benefit of employment.
