Again we got complements and a lot to the times the business owner was rude and berating when correcting employee's.
Support from management
There was no conflict resolution when I was there. There were not clear targets and things were always changing a moments notice. The employee's didn't know from one moment to the next when we were working or what changes would be made. No one was on the same sheet of music
There wasn't much honest with because there was a lot of hidden agenda's from the owners that destroyed the trust between them and the employees.
Freedom to work independently
We had some say in the area's of our responsibility however, because of the nature of issues that were not directly deal with our employees and clients suffered a great deal of the time.
There were a lot of mistakes that were being made at the front desk and by the owners. They didn't understand how to bill and there wasn't regular meets although the employee's asked for the regular meets. We had some but never consistent. The information changed so frequently that it was hard to keep up with the changes that were constantly being made. There were things that needed to be addressed by the owners that were not addressed and the blame was placed on the employees when it was clear that the employee's were unhappy because of the atmosphere and the nature in which the employers was treating the employee's expecting that the employee's cover for their short commings instant of the employer changing and making the situation better.
I can't say that there were any disadvantages for either women or men while working at Ironwood.
They provide a class to develop the employee's but when it was clear the employees had to leave because due to the conduct of the employer they deducted the amount from the employers pay although the employers could have lost their licenses as if they had stayed.
Overall compensation for your work
There was a promise to give commissions but never any follow through. There was never any benefits.
Office / Work Environment
The room that I worked in was very small making it hard to service the clients. Clients frequently commented on how small the room was. The office was cultured and things were constantly being moved without warning. It made it hard to get a consistent workflow going. Nothing worked right the computers had problems and crashed often. The software that was used for billing had issues all the time. There is not back door to exit incase of and emergency. There is only one way in and one way out. We could hear the neighboring business talking, hacking food or whatever else was going on. The walls are paper thin.
I didn;t stay long enough to say if this was true or not.
We had not vacation, sick or paid time off at all. We were expected to work the hours that were listed no matter if they changed at a moments notice or not. There was not a normal schedule for hours. Although I could take off to see about my family there were other things that didn't support me not my family by working at this place. The inconstant schedule make it hard for me to make a decent pay in order to live and support myself and my family.
For those who have worked there in the past they are happy that they are gone. Some of the clients mention that they didn't like it there and they could tell that something just wasn't right there and they said they would never go back. The image that they tried to portray didn't reflect reality not in the least bit when I was there. I left in October 2015.
There was no job security. I found out that there was not enough a savings to pay the employee's and the doors could close at any time if they didn't borrow money from relatives. We never knew if we would have a job when we came into to work. We were really worried about that.
No there is nothing for disabled employees or for the clients.
There has never been any safety training. I believe they could have benefited from safety training.
I was proud of the work I did. It was on a personal base with knowledge of my trade. I gained confidence in the work I did from the clients I served No one else could do my job
Inclusive / Diverse
I am not sure about this statement.
Suggestions for improvement
- The they continue to seek help of a professional that can help him to be healthy and find a knowledgeable front desk manager to run the front desk and help to organize and manage employee. Implement a plan to give benefits and paid time off and organized the schedule so employee's know what to expect. Gain knowledge about how employee's are to be paid on time and who is a contractor and who isn't.
What I like about the company
He is knowledgeable and smart about what he does. He doesn't do the same thing for every client.
What I dislike about the company
He was mis leading and unhealthy which lead to poor business practices and left employees out of work and constantly unsafe and insecure while working at his business.
