Interdepartmental politics is becoming extreme to the point of having harmful effects on morale in multiple divisions. The overall firm is becoming more of a number mill where careers are decided based on subjective numbers than the career opportunity that it once was.
Expectations change so often that the annual review requirements are often written in the weeks before it is actually due each year. The objectives given becomes almost impossible hurdles where almost no help is given. The subjective portion of annual reviews is just a manager opinion survey. It is impossible to plan for the future or prepare for each review since the requirements will change based on the current mood of management.
To be perfectly honest, I no longer like anything about this company. It no longer feels like the same company and position I came into five years ago. Instead of seeing my department as a valuable resource, we are nothing more now than cannon fodder. We are not respected, appreciated, and each day that goes by we become more expendable. I am the only member of my training team to still be present after all this time. All others have moved on due to dissatisfaction with their position, and currently I am looking for new avenues of employment.
