Suggestions for improvement
- Everyone should have equal opportunity to pursue the same growth and advancement regardless of their background, degree or gender. Some more than qualified individuals are passed along for growth opportunities because of a lack of a certain degree or skill set, however, with proper training, those skillsets can be developed. Project scopes, budget, and deadline needs to have extra reserve allowed to accommodate any project delays, extra work to be done, and a budget for overtime.
What I like about the company
People that you don't work with directly are extremely helpful and friendly. They have strict guidelines on safety standards and are always having events or gatherings to encourage awareness and safety procedures. There are various growth opportunities and advancement available in not only local locations, but also relocations if necessary. They culture and environment is great to work when you're starting out your career because you really learn alot from those you work with in your department and as you interact with others in other departments to meet a project deadline. The previous CEO truly cares about the employees situation as well as humbling himself to talk to them on an equal level to see how else the company can improve better.
What I dislike about the company
There are is too much of a political battle with department managers and executives that it strains the environment for employees there. It's great opportunity when starting out in your career, but the longer you stay, the more you become disheartened that growth opportunities are given to those who are inexperienced or unfamiliar with certain procedures and those who are more than well qualified are passed on. There's no training provided by upper management to guide and encourage the employees on the expectations needed for a project. Everyone is given free range to do as please, but when issues arise, they are blamed for being in experienced and negligent. There is sometimes a cut throat environment to surpass your colleagues, so you can gain benefits to better growth opportunities and advancement. Also, the company expects you to do more work than is expected or projected at the beginning of the project, but does not allow or approve of extra overtime to reach deadlines.
