Company Culture

Paul Mitchell has an AMAZING culture but it is clouded at this establishment by poor managment

Support from management

Management is inexperienced in supporting staff

Teamwork

Management has trouble allowing employees to work together from fear of a delusional mutiny

Freedom to work independently

Management cannot allow any autonomy for personal fear and need to maintain all control

Internal Communication

Communication is very poor within the establishment, as management is timid and inexperienced with formal confrontation of any degree.

Gender Equality

I have seen NO gender equality in this establishment as there are no male employees to my knowledge.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Management can tend to be passive aggressive when they feel like they are not getting their way. This is not conducive to a healthy work environment.

Career Development

As an independent stylist I have not been allowed to develop my career in this establishment due to severe unnecessary micro management.

Overall compensation for your work

The hourly workers deserve more for the amount of work they do. Commission stylists are compensated fairly.

Office / Work Environment

The work environment in this business is poor due to clutter, disorganization, and an excess of unessesary personal items that reside in the small space

Environmental Friendliness

This establishment DOES recycle!!! Although at times it seems to be more of a hoarding practice than true recycling.

Work-Life Balance

Work life balance can be achieved while employed here, but only if demanded by said employee. In my experience I had to take full control of my schedule in order to not be asked to stay at work from dawn til dusk plus some.

Company Image

There is not a cohesive company image here.

Job Security

I do not feel secure in my position here.

Handicapped Accessibility

YES.

Workplace Safety

Mediocre, there are many repairs that need to be taken care of that have been ignored.

Challenging Work

The work is not challenging, the unnecessary requirements from management however can prove to be VERY challenging. Ex: Sweeping the floor must be done in a specific direction due to the owners cultural beliefs.

Inclusive / Diverse

I'm not sure about the diversity within the establishment as there seem to be no staff members that choose to stay for any length of time.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Management should take managerial courses and then apply whats learned in order to have a successful business in today's world. The management practices in place now are outdated and prove to stifle the business causing its growth to be stagnant and will eventually sink the company.

What I like about the company

The location is beautiful and despite management issues the owner is a very nice person.

What I dislike about the company

It is a difficult place to run your own business, which is required of you as an independent stylist.

Company Culture

Paul Mitchell has a GREAT culture! However this establishment is not a good representation of it.

Support from management

The management is overwhelmed and does not work well as a team, making it hard to aid them by carrying some of the load.

Teamwork

Management has a very hard time trusting others to do a proficient job when assigned a task and therefore doesn't work as a team but rather a "micromanager" not conducive to a team environment nor learning opportunity.

Freedom to work independently

Micromanagement is all employees or contractors receive when employed at this establishment.

Internal Communication

Management is timid when it comes to confrontation, so communication fails on all levels.

Gender Equality

No there seems to be some descrimination in my experience. Unnecessary Pre-judgment of those for outwardly apperience etc.

Attitude towards older colleagues

There are none, intact there are no staff that have stayed around over the near 10 years of the businesses lifetime.

Career Development

None that I have seen as employees do not stay here.

Overall compensation for your work

Hourly workers are overworked and under payed. Commission stylists just don't stay here, as they are not allowed to grow their business.

Office / Work Environment

The space is beautiful but cluttered, too full, and VERY disorganized, with far too many personal items present for a business.

Environmental Friendliness

They do recycle! But it often turns into a horsing problem rather than an eco-friendly gesture.

Work-Life Balance

There can be work-life balance at this establishment but you have to demand it! Otherwise you are expected to live there! Manage trends to take advantage of younger less experienced employees that are not ready to stand up for themselves.

Company Image

No, it is embarrassing to me and my clients. I hate to say

Job Security

None

Handicapped Accessibility

Yes

Workplace Safety

No, repairs that need to be made don't get done in a timely way, there is always something broken or malfunctioning.

Challenging Work

The work itself is not challenging, the management may make a simple task impossible though, depending on their mood.

Inclusive / Diverse

Everything is run with a very cultured base, wether you understand why or not. It's not for everyone.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I'm not convinced there is hope for the management here. Growth is a must in a business, and Jade Design Studio's management has not proven itself able to grow.

What I like about the company

I learned a significant amount about what not to do as a future employer! All in all that was worth my time and I believe I have grown from it.

What I dislike about the company

I do not feel they were truthful with themselves about what they can provide employees.
