Blaming others was the norm. Root-cause analysis and actually solving problems was foreign to most management team members. Consistently deceptive with the customer.
Support from management
The plant manager at my facility was actually fired for stealing from the company, and had been for years. No one had any idea that it was going on. This is the blindness of the entire executive management team.
Everyone wanted to be involved but there wasn't one cohesive plan drawing all disciplines together with one common goal.
Communication was about what you would expect from an organization that had outgrown it's leadership capabilities. Huge lags in information sharing, poor process discipline, etc.
I spent 20 plus years in the auto industry and am no stranger to working long hours. I spent literally my first 14 weeks on the road, working 100 plus hour weeks and it was simply expected.
One of the most unsafe environments I have ever experienced. No regard for OSHA regulations (and I've worked in foundry's)
