What I like about the company
The cubes were nice and tall so you could still have some privacy when you needed it and had a buffer from the phone conversations that were always going on.
What I dislike about the company
When I started at JCP in 1996, the work was challenging and rewarding. The management was supportive. However, that all changed when they started outsourcing. Management undermined your confidence, played favorites, had double standards and lied to you. We were told there would be no layoffs by the IT executive management, then they changed it to minimal layoffs and then at least 10% of IT was laid off in 2009. We were told that management would look to find places for folks to be transferred to but my director basically laid off the entire department and then brought in contractors to do the work. Executive management didn't know that the moral was in the toilet and has been for several years and folks are walking on eggshells afraid they will be next on the list to be cut and then replaced with off-shore resources.
