Company Culture

Most seem to be happy, really depends on the floor you're working on. The floor I work on is predominantly happy/satisfied on where they are. Other floors are not so lucky. Overall hospital wise, I think the culture is better than most in the area

Support from management

They definitely promote problem solving, suggestions, coming to mgt with problems and suggestive solutions. Huddles every morning gives employees a chance to give input in all things r/t the hospital

Teamwork

Again, all floors are not created equal as far as teamwork with others, but I can't say enough about my colleagues and ppl I work with. This is particular to where my floor stands out. Teamwork is highly promoted.

Internal Communication

Only gripe on communication is that a lot of things are communicated via email. It's hard to check your email on a daily basis, as 99% of your day you are too busy with more important matters.

Career Development

They promote going back to school for further education, give higher wages for higher degrees and help to pay for schooling.

Overall compensation for your work

Even though they have somewhat addressed low wages issues, they still aren't as high as they should be. If not for the ppl I work with, I would have gone on for higher paying positions. As a seasoned RN, there's really no shortage of work opportunities that pay more. But higher pay doesn't = happiness

Office / Work Environment

Again, very different views from different floors, but it's very warm on my floor.

Environmental Friendliness

Recycling is promoted, although I think we could do more. There should be more blue recycling containers available for both employees and public.

Work-Life Balance

We are usually short as a hospital as a whole, therefore you do get calls from supervisors asking to come in. 98% there's no pressure, but there have been times where they almost make you feel guilty about not picking up extra time. It's objectable whether this is on purpose or not

Workplace Safety

All OSHA regulations and healthcare refs are followed/observed and more; it's just healthcare in general you're always around sick ppl and are bound to get it from the patients no matter how much you try not to

Challenging Work

It's not easy being a RN. Fast pace and a lot of times you're the ones who the family complains to, whether it's anything within your control or not. Few too many ppl thank you for taking care of their love ones or even acknowledge that you did things for their love ones that they themselves would not do (i.e. Wipe/clean up a family member after relieving themselves), but will be the first ones to complain about it taking too long if they ring the call bell and no one is there to answer it soon enough for their liking. They forget there's more than just them on your assignment.

They're fair, good ppl

Could pay better to keep employees, rather than paying more to bring in ppl

Suggestions for improvement

  • Go back to the way it was. Stop cutting hours, people and Care about the patient ts and people committed in,. like itnised to be. You will have more return patients

What I like about the company

The employees are great.

What I dislike about the company

Since being taken over by AHN, it is horrible. They take things away, pto, cutting hours. Cutting jobs.
They cut pto and say in the next sentence... you should balance work and free time. Take time off. But cut your pto hours. Once you are busy again, the say you can do more.with less.

extremely understaffed, jeopardizes the safety of empolyees and patients. Patient cre techs are extemely underpaid
