Company is owned by a holding company with very little knowledge of retail operations.
Support from management
Leadership is not interested in offering support to management staff.
Always a us and them mentality between Jewel and Osco sides of the store.
You are responsible for inputting and reporting numbers daily. Also communicating important information to associates.
Women and men seem to have the same opportunities although men dominate upper positions.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older employees are a liability and replacing them with part timers is common practice.
No real training program.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation was good but not worth all the headaches. Benefits are industry standard.
Office / Work Environment
The stores are well lit and temperature controlled.
We used to throw a lot of perishable items away now they are donated to a food bank for a tax write off.
As with any retail management position you work as many hours as it takes to get the job done.
This company is owned by a holding company and could be sold at any time.
The law requires accessibility
If you are over on payroll you send people home early because that is about your only controllable expense. The workload still must be completed whatever it takes. There have been nights I have worked over and wondered how long it would take somebody to realize something was wrong if something happened to me.
If you like a challenge this is the place for you.
Inclusive / Diverse
Not a lot of openness toward an individuals ideas.
