Support from management
Management is again only supportive when they need something from you. But when you have a question, don't expect a quick response, or more often then not, a response at all.
I was a independent contactor, and the company culture is one where you do not talk to other I.C.'s.
Freedom to work independently
Again, as a independent contactor you have a lot of freedom.
The managers & the internal team do not contact you when you have a problem. They constantly call you when they have questions though. I find this rather counter productive.
You are not really going to "move up" from this position no matter your schooling or job aptitude.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is based on a per order basis. The amount paid was cut in half a couple of years ago. Because you know, things always cost less, that's what inflation means.
You work for yourself essentially, so the balance is what you make of it.
Job security is good. I am very proficient in this position, but the lack of support in most of this industry is astounding.
The work is really really simple to perform.
Suggestions for improvement
- Actually talking to your reps, you know the people that keep your company alaive.
What I like about the company
The freedom is nice.
What I dislike about the company
The general lack of communication, and the fact that the pay was cut to $10 per order versus the $20 per order that they used to pay. Commercial inspections is a different story. You do get paid better, but the work is limited by the area you live in. I.E. small city=small work load...big city=bigger work load.
