Suggestions for improvement
- There should be a Leadership Development program for women that is company sponsored. Only this year did they start offering paid maternity and paternity time beyond the legal limits, and this needs to be pushed that taking it is necessary. There should be a concerted effort to get more women into president positions and even to CEO. Deere has never had a CEO that wasn't an old, white, male.
What I like about the company
The people are very nice and willing to help new employees join the strong company culture. John Deere likes to promote from within so there are numerous different job experiences you can have if you are willing to move around. As a global company there is the opportunity for ex pat assignments. Employees are a part if the mission to help feed, clothe, and house the world, which is a very feel-good mission. The company has been around for almost 180 years and knows how to do business in a cyclical environment to stay profitable. The brand is fantastic, everyone has a John Deere story and likes to tell you all about it. It's so humbling to work somewhere that people travel to visit as it's such a large part of their life.
