Fear and intimidation. Everyone is afraid to speak up for fear of losing their job. District managers are very unusual. Most have no outside identity. Many are single or divorced. I once overheard a phone conversation (cubicles) from a DM explaining how his "technique" was to tear down his new bankers. He would dehumanize them and then build them back up. Unbelievable.
Support from Management
Extremely high turnover in management. In 7.5 years I went through 5 supervisors. One branch went through 10 manager changes in the same period. Because of this, the agreed career path I spoke of during my interview process disappeared. In the bank channel, I noticed over time, most of the players are shuffled around to different firms. Very little to no long term employees. Managed through fear and intimidation. Square peg round hole mentality.
