Coworkers were great. Supervisors were hit or miss. Not very consistent management and multiple department managers decisions often conflicted.
Support from management
Ha! They follow their little checklists but know so very little about how to help, motivate, and manage people
Encourages, yes. Actually gets involved with interacting?? Not really. Unless its upper c-level management
Freedom to work independently
Only if you work under their specific requirements. Anything outside of that is nonconformity and they look for a way to pull you back.
Only upper level management and occassionally a department supervisor was good at managing people and good with communication.
Plenty of women in management positions.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Plenty of older employees
Yes, but all were either seniority based or based on who you knew and references
Overall compensation for your work
Union pay great
Office / Work Environment
Environment was fine
Recycled and used environment friendly products
I worked unpaid OT and management constantly turned the blind eye, yet always noticed if I was two minutes late
I was, until they refused to help me work through my problems at work. They just abandoned me and brought in someone else
The position, yes. But all depends on the person
Safety was frequently checked on
They pay well, but they will make you work the equivalent of three jobs. Initial onboarding training takes at least a year, but not so willing to be patient during that first year.
Inclusive / Diverse
Some departments were more diverse than others.
Suggestions for improvement
- Have a manager or HR who will actually listen and consider the employee side, not always the managers.
What I like about the company
Most people were very welcoming and kind. Employees usually undertand who the "Problem" supervisors are, and can either point them out or help you deal. Just be careful if you do have a bad supervisor, to document eveything!
What I dislike about the company
How they refuse to question supervisors who have positions they supervise, with high turnover.
