Management has no idea what's happening on the floor. People are forced to work whatever hours plant manager deemed worthy. Often switching shifts and only being half trained on machines to save time and then subsequently getting fired or written up for errors that should have been avoided with better training.
Support from management
Immediate supervisors are usually decent but the further up the chain it goes the more evident the less they care
They're always happy to have your help but less likely to help you out if you need it
Freedom to work independently
Automated systems are antiquated and usually broken. Poorly implimented and usually half finished.
Hr is impossible to ever get in person or on the phone. There's always miscommunication between shifts
Attitude towards older colleagues
People with tennure usually got away with more because "its the way the way they always did it" while off shifts and new employees are held to different standards
Overall compensation for your work
I spent 6 years at kalas and started near the bottem of the pay chain and ended near the top for operators. And still started at another job for more money doing easier work for a better company
Office / Work Environment
Office people were helpful and nice and other floor associates were usually easy to work with
Frequently coerced into making the choice between following orders and working 12 hour shifts and then Saturdays and Sundays or getting fired.
The job was decent some times challenging other times very difficult using improper tools and set up or making due with worn out tooling
Suggestions for improvement
- Value your employees more and pay them what they're worth. Stop pushing people through training so they get on they're own quicker and take the time to do it right. If someone does a good job let them know.
What I like about the company
I was always aloud to learn more and do different things.
What I dislike about the company
Poorly managed company and misinformed or entirely uninformed management try to run the lives of people they clearly don't value while trying to coerce them into working crazy hours.
