Again depends on the department in which you work. Managers do not back employees who do their job. Other's give praise rarely but the praises typically never leave your department and are never acknowledged by upper management.
You are forced to use team work just as a means to accomplish your departments goals and/or requirements.

The work load is excessive but depending on your individual manager whether or not you get any type of backing
