Company Culture

Almost nonexistent.

Support from management

I feel my immediate supervisor & job foreman were not properly engaged concerning the job process.

Teamwork

Most peers were more concerned with themselves rather than the job as a whole.

Freedom to work independently

Workload was assigned more often by first come, first assigned rather than being assigned by job knowledge/skill level.

Internal Communication

Poor to nonexistent & confused.

Gender Equality

Not observed.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Not employed long enough to comment on.

Career Development

Again, can't comment on.

Overall compensation for your work

I felt wages were low but no salary disputes.

Office / Work Environment

Average for construction.

Environmental Friendliness

Below average, probably never discussed.

Work-Life Balance

Average for construction.

Company Image

The overall atmosphere was one of "no big deal on everything" & supervision didn't get excited about anything until they backed themselves into a corner.

Job Security

I was told at the time I was hired that the job would last at least until January, I started in June, & was laid off at the end of October.

Handicapped Accessibility

The standard accessibility options existed on site.

Workplace Safety

Training was fine but if they could get away with a safety shortcut, they would.

Challenging Work

Tasks I was assigned to were either far below my capabilities or wasn't given proper time to perform properly.

Inclusive / Diverse

Diverse opinions & ideas didn't happen due to too many chief want to be, not enough Indians.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Hire people at all levels that take pride in their work. My direct supervisor had little knowledge involving new construction, his background had been as a service & maintenance electrician

What I like about the company

I found nothing I liked about supervision.

What I dislike about the company

As a former Air Force NCO, supervision pretty much managed to break, bend or ignore established supervisory/management principals. None of them had never had any supervision or management training & they certainly were not natural leaders.
