Company Culture

The culture in this organization makes you really uncomfortable. I reported several incidents to Admin about a staff member making me uncomfortable, and displaying inappropriate behavior in front of students. I was told that the behavior was wrong, but since the staff member was leaving the job soon it was swept under the rug.

Support from management

Management was terrible. The Executive Director never made her face visible until end of the year showcases. Never had a team meeting or conversation with her about her future goals of the organization. Racial issues reported were swept under the rug.

Teamwork

Staff under admin did their best to work as a team within dysfunction.

Internal Communication

The admin staff often planned things the day of creating programming challenges. Stafff members were not always paid on time. Management made fun of people not receiving their checks on time.

Attitude towards older colleagues

N/A

Career Development

There is none. They do not want to see you grow within this organization.

Overall compensation for your work

Not bad for a part time position.

Office / Work Environment

Uncomfortable main office space.

Environmental Friendliness

Certain staff members are allowed to have inappropriate behaviors.

Company Image

Terrible, very prejudice.

Job Security

Did not tell me my position would be changed two weeks before start date.

Challenging Work

Working with the admin staff was the most challenging.

Inclusive / Diverse

The Admin is not as diverse as it should be. Considering the population served.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Adding more diversity to the staff. Being professional in all instances. HR Complaints should be taken seriously. There is no separate HR department, which makes decisions unfair because the admin team deals with hr issues.

What I like about the company

I loved working with the students, being able to expose them to gardening as a life skill was awesome.

What I dislike about the company

They have so much potential to be a great organization! However I do not believe those on the admin team hearts are really for the students. The Director of Programs really missed out on getting us important materials because he decided to attend his dogs surgery with his wife. Instead of creating a plan b, he just didn't show up.

Suggestions for improvement

  • To keep an open mind , and to consider the inputs of those who were raised in the communities, when you aren't from the area . When someone expresses that a staff member is being inappropriate in front of kids , address it rather than be dismissive about it because that staff was leaving in a few days.

What I like about the company

The fact that they worked with you , and taught students about healthy food alternatives .

What I dislike about the company

Management did not make me feel safe . The level of work ethic I had was too much for a company this unorganized. Management did not want to hear a perspective from someone who actually grew up within the communities they served along with having the work experience.
