Liberal, diverse employer and a leader among the top law firms in country, but extremely demanding
Suggestions for improvement
- Better management all around. Liberal culture is uncomfortable and firm needs to maintain a more neutral stance on political and social issues. Needs to terminate its diversity initiative with raged to hiring policies bc incompetent individuals are being placed in positions they are not qualified for.
What I like about the company
Very diverse group of attorneys and adequate mentoring program for young associates. Work is largely dependent on the specific group you work for, but overall the work is very challenging and the clients are well-known leaders in this respective corporate sectors. The work demands that you become the best attorney in your area of expertise. Benefits are more than adequate.
What I dislike about the company
Turnover rate is high, overall management of individual teams is sometimes lacking, opportunity to have fulfilling life outside of firm is practically non-existent bc of billable hour requirements. Firm’s desire to maintain diversity rating within legal profession sometimes leads to questionable hires and promotions while more suitable candidates do not progress into leadership positions. Firm’s desire to be politically correct is stifling.
