The culture, thanks to HR and my co-workers, was great.
Support from management
As an employee, we were pretty much hung-out-to-dry and thrown under the bus anytime the hammer came down upon us with one exception and that was B. Kerslake. He was the only one in management that stood up and shielded us from problems coming from above.
Teamwork among employees was great.
Freedom to work independently
Freedom was non-existent
The management needed organizational skills as well as communication skills.
It was about equal in the office area
Attitude towards older colleagues
Great respect for others except for a few that shouldn't have been in the position they were in.
There was very little to no encouragement from management that I saw.
Overall compensation for your work
What I found is, when an employee made a mistake in their workrole, instead of correcting them, the management would wait and allow that person to continue to make mistakes until their evaluation came up and then they'd use it against them.
Office / Work Environment
It was great especially when the VP wasn't around.
There was a good balanced promoted by HR but wasn't promoted by the VP of Sales & Marketing and that caused a lot of problems for anyone with children.
It was great job security because they were located far away from the population meaning a long commute for most.
The real challenge was trying to deal with the disorganization, favoritism, and bullying by the VP of Marketing and sales and dealing with his lack of marketing skills while listening to him attempt to lead company marketing efforts.
Inclusive / Diverse
Not much diversity that I saw.
Suggestions for improvement
- The first thing is, sales dropped every year that the VP of Marketing & Sales was there (Years before I came onboard). If he had been a football coach, he'd been fired a long time ago and, because of his lack of marketing skills, he should have been fired and moved to a sales position where he may be more useful.
What I like about the company
Everything except the disorganization and poor communications from management.
What I dislike about the company
The company had no leaders, only micro-managers who tried to manage areas they had no business managing.
