Suggestions for improvement
- Allow the designers to have a say in how the showroom is set up. Allow us to have input in designing the new displays. We do this for a living on a daily basis and know what sells and what people like. The owner currently designs everything himself and they are terrible. Also, do not hire a designer to come decorate the displays when you employ 10 of your own designers! As for bids, we should be getting paid a consultation fee so we aren’t wasting our time. For large bids, we should be getting hourly wages. Pay your employees appropriately for all the work they do, and show some appreciation.
What I like about the company
I enjoy my fellow employees and enjoy working with them. We usually stick together and work as a team, helping each other out when needed. For this industry, our schedule is pretty flexible with only working every other weekend and only one evening a week, and gives us road time for going to customers houses.
What I dislike about the company
Management needs to show more interest in its employees instead of solely focusing on how much money they can make. I don’t approve of them gradually taking away certain “perks” this position once had, resulting in the designers making less money and making it very difficult to bring home more money. I wish they would be more sensitive to our needs, respect our opinions, listen to our concerns, and provide encouragement when needed (none of this is happening now). Our jobs are already difficult and they only make it harder.
