Company Culture

Where to start? Short-term thinking, duplicity, and fear-based management are all both tolerated and encouraged. The company faces a number of declining consumption categories but refuses to invest sufficiently in innovation.

Support from management

Management is not only rudderless but not receptive to teams' needs.

Teamwork

Functional tribalism prevents any cross-functional project from going smoothly.

Attitude towards older colleagues

The veterans from Kraft (and Heinz, years earlier) were quickly flushed out to make way for cheaper, less experienced labor. On a limited basis, this isn't necessarily bad. But the company gave up far too much industry experience and is now run by folks who don't really know what they're doing.

Career Development

Some do move up quickly due to astronomical turnover. It's not unheard of to have 25 year-old senior managers. Most are not ready for this level of responsibility, at no fault of their own.

Overall compensation for your work

Your base salary is ok, but think twice if you think you'll make bonus most years. The targets are frequently out of reach.

Office / Work Environment

Nice location in downtown Chicago, but you are capped at two personal items on your desk. The open-office environment could theoretically work, but Kraft Heinz abuses this by stuffing as many people as possible into cramped and loud "pods" of desks on every floor.

Work-Life Balance

Most functions endure 10+ hour days and will still find themselves behind.

Google it!

Job Security

This is a culture based on fear and constant upheaval. Many quality employees will quit or be fired within a year or two.

Workplace Safety

The company was chastised by authorities during a fire drill for being the least-prepared of any tenant in the building.

Challenging Work

The work is challenging due to its sheer volume and a lack of appropriate training and development. Sadly, much of it is simply finding ways to make your numbers look favorable.

Suggestions for improvement

  • 3G Capital is the root issue. Nothing will change until ownership changes hands.

What I like about the company

There are opportunities to move up expediently if you are willing to devote your life to your work.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Make supervisors actually do their jobs and write up disciplines when employees call in every month. Make employees actually do their jobs instead of waiting and making the next two shifts do it for them. Give the employees the bonus that they deserved (made the company 10mil profit when the goal was only 4mil)

What I like about the company

I work with a small crew of people, kind of cutoff from the rest of the plant. They pay well and have good benefits. Their is room for advancement between general labor classes

What I dislike about the company

Training programs, bonus cancelled, Poor HR/Aetna Communications, Lack of supervision on other shifts (includes letting 1st shift walk on water with no disciplinary actions taken for call insurance, failure to do job, etc)

Company Culture

The culture of meritocracy has really degraded the effectiveness of the employees as a whole. It became more based on individual performance versus team performance. The mentality is of what have you done for me lately.

Support from management

Management wants to help you improve the company's position and will support you in that endeavor.

Teamwork

There were good people that continue to work in teams, however there is the meritocracy issue, that I discussed previously.

Freedom to work independently

This is highly encouraged, however there is a certain way that they want you to work. If you don't adapt, you will be let go.

Gender Equality

Very man-driven company.

Attitude towards older colleagues

This is more driven by the fact that older colleagues typically make more and do not have the drive as the younger colleagues.

Work-Life Balance

To be successful in the company, it would be better for you to work longer hours to produce as much output as possible. If they feel you don't produce enough output, the will let you go.
