Company Culture

The front line staff are (mostly) wonderful and are (mostly) in it to make a difference, which is the best thing about the company’s culture. So I guess it would be more “employee” culture than “company” culture. Morale seems to be pretty low at a company level.

Support from management

All about the bottom line, expectation to do more with less.

Teamwork

Again, not management.

Freedom to work independently

Only when it’s convenient for management. Vascillates from intrusive micromanagement to abandonment.

Internal Communication

Again, most of the front line staff are wonderful and go out of their way to communicate effectively. At a management level there’s much effort put into the facade of how great the place is. Management is just as guilty of gossiping as everyone else.

Gender Equality

Assertiveness from women not well tolerated.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Very permissive, staff members are hired without basic knowledge of the computer and internet. Held to a vastly different productivity standard.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay is above average, which prevents many people from leaving.

Office / Work Environment

Technology outdated and frequently not working, limited privacy, safety concerns go unaddressed.

Environmental Friendliness

It looks fine.

Work-Life Balance

All about the bottom line.

Company Image

Known in the community for providing solid treatment to very sick people, which is accurate.

Job Security

As a for-profit company, if they’re not making budget, they’re quick to lay off in certain departments.

Challenging Work

You’ll never be bored. Chronically understaffed for a high-need population.

Inclusive / Diverse

Almost entirely white staff, noticeably different treatment of women. Homophobic/transphobic. Almost no Spanish speaking staff.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Management overhaul. Training on diversity. Job swaps where management take on front-line roles for a week.

What I like about the company

The pay, peer staff

What I dislike about the company

Management, antiquated technology, money-driven treatment decisions

Suggestions for improvement

  • Communication between management and staff. Having staff committees that could give limited input. Some benefits such as employee discounts or better insurance (insurance plan does not allow employee to get in- house mental health treatment)

What I like about the company

It is a low stress job. They have done a good job of hiring good people that make a pleasant working environment.

What I dislike about the company

Input from employees discouraged. Not a caring attitude as to helping employees in any way. No opportunities for advancement.
