I had the most amazing principals. When I was hired, the principal was very courteous, approachable, friendly. He made time to talk with every one and politely listen to our requests.
Same school, a new principal. He was a very correct gentleman. He would give encouragement to everyone. I found myself so happy because he was very supportive of my efforts and I I continued my plans that I had when the other principal was there.
Support from management
Every school has a particular culture and I made great progress with my students on a school site where I worked most of my time.
My school supported each other. It wasn't sometimes my work and I took the initiative to help when needed. I found the same response with my coworkers and supervisors.
Freedom to work independently
Sometimes I thought that some people took advantage of my help, but I didn't mind because I truly enjoyed my work and I was learning a lot. It was in my best interest. I was committed to the success of my students and I found the same enthusiasm all around campus. It was invigorating.
We had a box with all pertinent information. Assam lies, weekly meeting where everyone was invited and allowed to participate.

Attitude towards older colleagues
There was great respect for the older and retired teachers that would come back to work as substitutes.

LAUSD has an internal program that made possible for a lot of teacher assistants to accomplish their goal to be the head teacher one day.
Overall compensation for your work
It has a fairly good compensation. The benefits are great for someone that can stay with the company until retirement age.
Office / Work Environment
It was an old school, but things worked properly.
A lot of fundraisers to support very diverse causes. Attention given to drug prevention.
Workers can decided, but they get dissuaded to leave on school hours.
I worked with special education students and I felt compelled to be there even though some times I should had stayed home with my own sick child.
Generally speaking. People get attached to the company through their school site. I can say that in the school that I served the most years I always felt connected with the whole district and identified with its mission.
I never thought I could loose my position. When a new principal arrived she published my removal.
Yes, they do.
They do provide training on all health and safety training.
I never felt better. School is the place to work. Helping someone to read or understand a concept it a great feeling.
Inclusive / Diverse
Different races, ages and abilities on school staff and students. Great support for Jewish personal, Armenians too.
Suggestions for improvement
- I don't have idea. Very demoralizing when this happens
What I like about the company
Opportunity of continuous education, great support network. Involvement with the community and the betterment of society through the effort of hundred of employees.
What I dislike about the company
If you get bump around a lot, you loose your focus on the task at hand. You get consumed thinking about constantly loosing your position.
