I am satisfied enough to be a returning part-time seasonal employee since 2003.

What I like

I love music and concerts. Enough so that I have been a returning part time seasonal employee, in the box office of an outdoor concert venue since 2003 when they opened.I have worked every single show that has been there. It is great! I can take a break and go in and watch a show if I choose, and have had a chance to see many, many different types of performances. Many of my co-workers have been their a long time to, we are almost like family.

What I dislike

Last year it bothered me that the employees in the parking lots wore black uniforms. I felt that in the Summer that would be too hot in the sun, then at night it would be too dangerous because you can't see someone wearing black in the dark very well. I reported it in our year end survey.

Suggestions for improvement

Just make sure employees are trained well enough to handle the job they are performing.

What I like

It does require doing mostly manual work. The bright side is you won't need to go to the gym and time of work is mostly evening events so is will be a almost like a night life. And the travelling is great to get a away from home a a day or two. Its a great job if you can get hire because is really hard to get hired by these kind of work.

What I dislike

Not sure yet. Probably be great if we was allowed ahead of time to know what work is available or if we are assigned ahead of time preplanning before work.

Suggestions for improvement

Maybe have a electronic billboard to see who's working and their assignments. It'll be less confusing to the intern and maybe the regular employees.

What I like

A coworker and I started around the same time and had known each other from college. A coworker overheard us speaking about an event we threw, and offered us to do it through our venue. The entire office was incredibly supportive of our first official eve

What I dislike

At times, communication can be lacking. People may receive promotions, or positions may be lost, and it feels as though it takes a little longer than it should for that information to be given to the office as a whole, making communication in general a li

Suggestions for improvement

I think clarity could benefit our office. Being clear as to who is in which position and what that position entitles.

Company Culture

A great community, full of support for each other and the overall mindset of bettering the team.

Live Nation is a good place to work if you want a career in Live Entertainment. Just expect a poor work-life balance.

Former EmployeeWorked at Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. in Boston, MA.

What I like

Live Nation provides an experience unlikeMost other workplaces - you literally have a "front row seat" to a diverse array of entertainment night after night. There is also commonly great commoraderie amongst those employees who work closely together in the venues. A sort of "work family" vibe is common.

What I dislike

The biggest downside to working for a Live Nation venue is the lack of healthy work-life balance. For any full time manager or supervisor, the expectations of your time and effort is way more than those in most other industries. 80 hour work weeks are too common during busy seasons (basically all except Summer for the mid-size venues).

Suggestions for improvement

More of a focus should be put on preventing or delaying the inevitable burn-out factor.

Company Image

I was proud at first, because who doesn't love seeing so many excited fans get to see their favorite performers nights after night? But once I began to take more notice of the near-monopoly that is Live Nation/Ticketmaster, it doesn't sit well with me morally. The ticket price gouging is a tough one to go along with.

Work-Life Balance

Work-Life balance is almost nonexistent in the management roles at Live Nation. It's the music industry and, if you work as a manager in a venue, do not expect to have a normal schedule. Love Nation will expect you to work M-F office hours (just as corporate employees do in headquarter offices), however you're somehow also expected to be present for as many concerts as possible. This easily leads to work weeks as long as 70-90 hours.

Career Development

This is definitely a positive. If you commit yourself, you can move up.

Office / Work Environment

In the music venues, you get what you get. Some venues are luckier than others in the office space department. If your venue only has a couple of closets for office space, upper management won't do much to change that. You'll just have to get used to working in spaces where you're literally on top of your coworkers. Even if these office spaces are not deemed workspaces by the fire department, it won't matter. "It's venue life, get used to it."

Challenging Work

Work was challenging, mainly due to volume and deadlines.

Internal Communication

Fairly clear about expectations and results. One on one calls were scheduled often between managers and their VP or other superior.

Overall I am much happier working for this company than any other job I've had in the entertainment industry!

EmployeeWorked at Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. in Boston, MA at the time of review.

What I like

I feel my individual skills and strengths are valued and my managers actively seek to further develop me and help me to accomplish bigger & better things. I am able to express my personality freely without fear of judgement or "not fitting in" to the company culture.

What I dislike

I wish there were more transparency regarding pay, compensation and other benefits, particularly for part-time employees. The company offers quite a few benefits, resources, and perks but information about them and how to access them is not always communicated effectively to the lower-paid positions that need them the most. While I feel confident that my direct co-workers and managers value me greatly and I have a career ahead of me at this company, since pay raises are not standardized I feel uncertain about my ability to meet my financial needs with the job.

Suggestions for improvement

Regular pay raises for part-time/hourly employees based on things like length of service and inflation, as well as opportunities for additional raises or bonuses based on performance, would increase quality of work and decrease turnover (as well as obviously improving the quality of life for workers in more precarious positions).

Company Culture

Inclusive and forward-thinking

Work-Life Balance

The company encourages mental health awareness and work-life balance to full-time employees but not so much part-time employees. In practice, many full-time salaried employees often work well over expected hours in order to meet their work load.

Career Development

They provide access to continued training via an online "e-learning hub" and prioritize promotions from within.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay rate is comparable to other opportunities in the same industry, but wage increases are not standardized or guaranteed and can depend on budget choices. Personally, I have not had a single raise since I began working for the company despite multiple years of exemplary service.

Environmental Friendliness

Recycling and avoiding unnecessary waste are actually official policies.

Teamwork

Because the company structure is quite corporate/bureaucratic, issues tend to be funneled upwards to higher management or HR rather than worked out directly between co-workers. As long as there aren't significant issues between co-workers, however, the overall culture encourages people to work together to make the big picture work.

Support from management

Inclusive and forward-thinking

Challenging Work

We are constantly trying to innovate and improve, but there's a lot of support available

Internal Communication

Almost daily email updates from corporate office, as well as frequent all-staff meetings at my locations where all updates and concerns can be addressed collectively.

Gender Equality

A lot of women in leadership positions at various levels

Freedom to work independently

Freedom to work from home/remotely often
