Company Culture

The Faculty was extremely conservative. One has to fit a certain "acceptable" profile---preferably White

Support from management

Absolutely not. It was not my experience. I had no problem communicating to the students my class objective from departmental approved syllabus, but the department was not supportive. The students were receptive and wanted to learn but were denied the opportunity to be taught by me. It was very unfair and I was hurt.

Teamwork

Absolutely not. There appeared to be no teamwork.

Freedom to work independently

None. The syllabus I formulated for the semester was passed on to the next white teacher. The department chair told me "We do not teach Reading here." Since that semester, the program has incorporated Reading.

Internal Communication

No I was not. I felt used and rejected. I was made to fell out of place which was very unnecessary. I felt for the students and sad at the grown up inhumanity.

Gender Equality

The instigator was the female with Master degree and the Chair of the Department while the Faculty that fired me had a Phd doing his boss' firing. It was apparent they had done this before.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Yes.

Career Development

None that I know of.

Overall compensation for your work

Adjunct faculty are paid hourly.

Office / Work Environment

Excellent, with twenty-first century technology.

Environmental Friendliness

Excellent.

Company Image

Yes.

Job Security

No. Yes.

Handicapped Accessibility

Yes. Adequate

Workplace Safety

Yes.

Challenging Work

Absolutely. I had set the framework for the semester just about to fill in the gaps when suddenly there was an evaluation by another faculty member who fired me thereafter. I realized that I had just witnessed blatant racism which made them looked so small and unprofessional.

Inclusive / Diverse

Not when I was there in 2015.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Diversity of faculty and students; because the "other" class of none-whites have no chance of succeeding in that environment whatsoever. The white students were not the problem. I was impressed, because they saw no color. Their innocence still haunts me today. What a tragedy it was. Perhaps, it is time for the older generation of whites who have problem with none-whites to consider retiring. It must be a lonely and bitter world for them now.

What I like about the company

Nothing.

What I dislike about the company

Do not hire someone with the intention of firing then admits racial tension in the country.
